Welcome to the Screw of the Week!
Long live the First Amendment to the United States Constitution
Face it...we have lost out liberty and freedoms here in the United States. We (and by "we", I mean, the self serving liberals) have done it to ourselves. Congratulations! You have done it. We suck! Keep it up and we will be bankrupt too. |
I'll start with some background.
A young lady, still in high school, turns 18 years of
age. And she made a big mistake. She, as
many high schoolers do, imbibes in some adult beverages
on night, shortly after her 18th birthday.
She jumps in mom’s care to go a quarter mile down
the road to a convenient store.
Roads are slick, and she ends-up hitting a curb
and flipping the car over.
Although this was a victimless incident, she was
charged with several counts, the most significant being
Driving Under the Influence of alcohol (DUI).
Sadly, in the Punitive State of
Arizona, it is not illegal to drink and operate a motor
vehicle, as long as it “does not impair your judgment in
the slightest”. Essentially,
the state legislature of the Punitive State of Arizona
has empowered the local terrorist organization, also
referred to as the local police department, to target
the citizens and visitors to the Punitive State of
Arizona. And
these vicious and heartless savages are doing their best
to hurt people and, in some cases, ruin their worthless
lives.
Now for my personal experience, Courtesy Delta Air Lines, Inc..
I am a frequent traveler.
After next week, I will be Gold with US Airways,
Delta, Hilton, and I am Platinum with Marriott.
I have learned to be patient and forgiving with
traveling.
And I have done very well (which is not one of my
strengths) in handling most travel related issues,
especially in the winter.
HOWEVER, on Friday, I was on the return leg of my
travels, leaving Omaha, Nebraska, heading to Phoenix,
via Minneapolis, a major Delta hub.
Apparently the ground crews at Minneapolis have
not yet been adequately trained, or are totally
incompetent.
My original flight schedule (as provided by the
brilliant people at Delta) provided my one (1) hour and
fifteen (15) minutes between flights.
The ground crew has different plans.
After landing, we sat on the runway for a very
long period of time, and then went to our gate.
We were almost to the gate, where we sat again,
only to be diverted to not just a different gate, but to
a different terminal.
As it ended-up, we were at the nearly the
farthest possible point from my connecting flight.
So, here I am running through the airport.
And many of the travelers are obviously not in a
hurry, but they certainly didn’t care about be.
There are announcements from Delta about the
plane loading and all passengers should be on board, and
that anyone not on board is forfeiting their seat.
I did make the
flight, no help from Delta.
However, a am asthmatic and it took me some time
to recover and be able to breathe without coughing and
wheezing. I
am sure the lady sitting next to me was not happy that
she had someone sitting next to her coughing.
But at that point, I did not care.
I knew that the coughing was because of the
breathing issues, not because of a potentially
contagious illness.
And as if that were not enough, I
was up early and rushed to the airport; no breakfast, no
coffee. The
40 minute flight between Omaha and Minneapolis had no
drink service.
And there certainly was not enough time for me to
stop and get coffee at the airport in Minneapolis.
And believe it or not, after a rather long delay
in getting the drink cart going (which I am sure was so
they would not have to offer drinks twice), the Atlanta
based flight crew came down the aisle, and skipped the
Row 28, seats D, E and F.
I was hungry, had a caffeine headache going, had
my credit card out ready to pay the $6.00 for a snack
pack, and I couldn’t even get a cup of coffee or glass
of water.
That was the last stray.
I put my credit card away, cranked-up my iPod and
enjoys my music, not caring one bit about anything
anyone wanted to say to me.
Screw them all.
Or more appropriately, screw them all back.
After my already arranged flight
next week, I will have gold status with Delta.
I even booked a cruise through Delta this year.
However, it is clear to me that Delta
lacks the ability to treat people as well as they claim.
And I will not be flying with them again.
It may sound silly to show loyalty and earn
status, only to let it go away.
But they are absolutely right in that nifty
recording they play on the plane; with some bull shit
about appreciating our business and recognizing that we
have choices.
And on top of this insanity I experienced
yesterday, I was trying a couple weeks back to fly my
children home for Christmas.
It appears that the 80,000 miles I have
accumulated will not get but one ticket.
Normally, I would be able to get three tickets
out of that.
Thanks, Delta.
I feel incented to use you more.
US Airways is not much better, by blacking out
the normal travel days before and after Christmas.
BUT, I hear Southwest has no blackout dates.
Maybe I will fly Southwest Airlines next year.
I do know one thing…. I have already removed the
Delta app from my iPhone.
And I repeat, after next week, I will not be
scheduling any flights from Delta.
